The gravel roads in Giyani Section A had deteriorated, causing steep costs and inconvenience to road users. Stormwater from nearby hillside had caused damage to properties. SHUMBA ENGINEERING SERVICES was appointed by the Greater Giyani Municipality to plan, conceptualize, design, contract administer and monitor construction of this project. The project entailed upgrading of 7 km of gravel road to asphalt surfaced road, and installation of 4 km of stormwater pipes. The project was successfully completed within the budget, time and to the best quality.
Mandela Park Township is located in a hilly and steep terrain. This area receives fairly high annual rainfall. It is difficult to drive in the area and more so when there is at least little rainfall to wet the ground. SHUMBA ENGINEERING SERVICES was appointed by the Greater Letaba Municipality to plan, conceptualise, design, contract administer and monitor construction of this project. The project entailed upgrading of 2 km of gravel road to interlocking brick paved road, and installation of stormwater drains and culverts. The project was successfully completed within the budget, time and to the best quality.
The experience of being disconnected from fellow community members and school due to a flowing river is a painful one. Hlakaro River passes through Lehlokwaneng and Tswaing Villages and would frequently flood during the rain season. Vehicles and pedestrians would not be able to cross the river for a prolonged period when the flood level was high. SHUMBA ENGINEERING SERVICES (SES) was appointed by the Municipality to provide a solution to lessen the burden of pain caused to the community of Lehlokwaneng Tswaing by the prolonged high level of river flooding. SES planned, conceptualised, design, prepared bid and construction, and administered construction for a project across the Hlakaro River.

The National Department of Public Works realised the need for repair and renovation works at Lulekani Magistrate Office.SHUMBA ENGINEERING SERVICES (SES) was appointed as the civil engineering consultant as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the project. SES assessed the existing infrastructure and produced the scope of work and services report for civil infrastructure that was discussed and finalised with the Client. The civil infrastructure comprised water provision, sewer, access roads, paved parking and stormwater drainage. SES conceptualised, designed, contract administered, and construction monitored the civil engineering aspects of the project, until the project was complete.

Sanitation is dignity. This is true as echoed in various documents by the South African Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS). Various villagers in the Vhembe District Municipality of the Limpopo Province were yearning for improvement of sanitation facilities. SHUMBA ENGINEERING SERVICES (SES) was appointed by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to provide sanitation facilities for various villages in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. SES working with LNW and communities identified the appropriate level of sanitation facilities that would improve the lives of these communities. The appropriate level was Ventilated Improved Latrine (VIP). Thus, the use of ordinary pit latrines and bush facilities was replaced with a higher level of service, provision of VIP toilets. A total of 1013 VIP toilets were installed by SES and the dignity of the communities improved.
